Job description
VOLUNTEER EXPERIENCE OFFICER
Do you want to join our commitment to ensure no family faces cancer alone?
We are looking for a standout Volunteer Experience Officer to join our fantastic volunteer team who work tirelessly for our volunteers so that they can support Young Lives vs Cancer. This is a role of variety, opportunity and innovation and we are looking for someone who embraces change and constantly strives to achieve more.
A great personality and team ethic are really important in this role as you will maximise volunteer potential for Young Lives vs Cancer. You will help them do this by supporting our volunteer team projects, managing a central communications journey, developing our micro-volunteering programme, gathering feedback and improving our volunteer training plus much much more. This role sits within the ‘People & Culture’ directorate and we need someone with an affinity for delivering projects, natural customer service skills and a want to deliver a legendary experience to all of their volunteers.
We’re looking for someone with heaps on enthusiasm and a go-getter attitude to take on this new challenge. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, working from home with experience of managing volunteers and delivering successful projects. If you’re up working with our amazing team of volunteers and helping them develop and do great things – then this is the role for you.
This is not your average 9-5 role and we’re not looking for an average candidate. We encourage flexibility and adaptability, and in return offer a strong flexible working arrangement to ensure a healthy work/life balance. Many of the team work condensed or flexible hours to suit individual circumstances and we would love to discuss your needs further at interview.
The role will require occasional travel to Bristol and London offices. Our London offices are due to close soon, however an alternative location will be communicated.
Experience within a similar role, or within the charity sector, would be great but we know that a lot of the most important skills in this role are easily transferable from another sector. We want the right person and we will invest in training the right candidate. The skills we are looking for in this role are:
- Strong prioritisation skills
- Project management
- Great communicator
- Self-Motivated
- Emotionally intelligent
- Creative writing
- Self-Aware
- Compassionate
- Braver
- Has integrity
- Team player
- Pro-active nature
If you think this sounds like you then please have a read of the attached job specification. If you wanted to discuss the role before applying, then we welcome these informal chats. Please contact Collette Brown at [email protected] to set something up. However please ensure any applications are submitted directly via our website.
Cancer doesn’t discriminate and neither does Young Lives vs Cancer. We know that opportunities for too many people remain a condition of their race, class, sex, disability, sexual orientation – or a combination. This isn’t okay. We don’t just accept difference – we value it, celebrate it, nurture it and we thrive off of it. We positively welcome your application irrespective of your background.
The must haves:
