This position provides an exciting opportunity to join SLR’s expanding multi-disciplinary service offering which includes mining engineers, geologists, tailings engineers, geotechnical engineers, ESG practitioners, hydrologists, hydrogeologists, and geochemists.

Sustainable water management is fundamental for mining, and SLR’s approach and service offering in relation to water management is centered on our expertise in the core technical disciplines of hydrology, hydrogeology and geochemistry which make up SLR’s Mine Water Group. The group provides technical services to both local and international mining projects via focused mine water projects and/or in support of wider mining advisory services. This opportunity offers a varied work stream for a range of clients, commodities, and project locations, working directly with the European team, and potentially international colleagues, for mine water and mining services and reporting to the lead hydrogeologist for mining in Europe.

This role is required to support existing and upcoming work and applications will be considered immediately.

The successful candidate could be based in any of our existing European offices, but the following locations are preferred: Edinburgh; Bristol; or London.

SLR offer flexible, agile and hybrid working which enables staff to tailor hours worked around core hours, and our family friendly policies help balance the needs of professional and family life.

The role
You will provide specialist input to local and international mining studies including feasibility studies, due diligence assessments and other studies related to hydrogeological investigation and assessment as well as:
  • You will have the opportunity to be involved in all aspects of delivery including proposals and business development, project and task co-ordination and management, fieldwork and execution of analysis and technical studies and production of study and assessment deliverables.
  • Depending on experience, you may technically oversee and mentor other team members who are working with you.
  • Depending on requirements, you may also support hydrogeology work in the engineering and aggregate/minerals sectors.
  • You will have the opportunity to travel across the UK, Europe and internationally for the purposes of site visits and potentially in support of field investigations.
