Metcalfe is a growing steel fabrication company located just outside Reading. The company's management has been operating for over 30 years in providing a range of bespoke metal fabrications for a diverse range of clients. Our goal is to deliver quality and efficiency throughout the company, extending through our diverse range of bespoke products in an effort to provide a better customer experience.
We are looking for a skilled welder who is experienced in working with structural steelwork, staircases, railings and other secondary fit items.
Job Title: Skilled Welder Fabricator
Job Role: To weld and fabricate bespoke steel structures based on technical drawings using MAG welding processes.
Reports to: Workshop Manager
Working Hours: 42.5 hours per week
Salary: £35,360 - 40,885
Responsibilities:
- Prepare stock materials using a range of processes and machinery
- Weld structures to drawing specifications using MAG
- Fabricate as required to complete specific project tasks
- Keep working area safe and machinery clean and tidy
- Interpret detailed drawings and specifications to produce components
- Check own work for quality and tolerances
- Finish and prepare works for delivery to customers
- Work with the training welders to help them learn on the job
Role Requirements:
- At least 3 years' experience in fabricating steel with ability to demonstrate proficiency
- Proficient in MAG, previous coding is advantageous.
- Ability to read technical drawings
- Ability to work alone and within a team
- Good problem solving skills
