At Leicester Maternity service we have vacancies for Band 5 preceptor Midwives and Band 6 Midwives. We would love for you to join our team where you will work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team in an environment that is supportive and empowering.

Leicester, is a vibrant, multicultural city, with a large rural community in the county and Rutland. There are many cultural attractions in the city centre with theatres, bars, Highcross shopping centre. Just out on the edge of the city Fosse park offers a large shopping centre with free car parking and public transport links just off the motorway. Leicester is in a central location for travel all around the country with good rail and motorway networks.

With a birth rate around 9700, our service is one of the largest and most culturally diverse in the country with a wide range of complexities and specialist services to guarantee opportunities to gain excellent experience.

We have a level 3 tertiary Neonatal service and host the East Midlands congenital heart service therefore, we are highly skilled at managing complex referrals from other services.

Band 5
  • To consolidate the theory and practice acquired during midwifery training.
  • To maintain a high standard of midwifery care at all times.
  • To acquire additional competencies to fulfil the role of a midwife providing total care to women in preparation for band 6 role working in a continuity care model.
Band 6
  • To deliver total care to mother and babies within the hospital and community environment as required to meet the expectations of Better Births and Continuity of Carer.
  • To ensure the maintenance of a high standard of evidence based midwifery care at all times.
  • To provide support both educationally and clinically tostudents and colleagues.
  • To be involved in teaching and education.
  • To participate in research
