As a Registered Midwife you will be responsible for ensuring that our service users’ needs are met through the delivery of high-quality care. You will offer a person-centred approach to antenatal care and subsequent care during the intrapartum and postnatal period.

The post holder is responsible for the assessment of care needs, the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care. Assist the mother and her family to realise their expectations. Is expected to carry out all relevant forms of care and actively work towards achieving the competencies outlined in the midwifery scale. As rotational Midwives you will have the opportunity to rotate to all areas in the Maternity Services including delivery suite, community, postnatal and antenatal wards.

All new staff will be subject to a probationary period covering their first six months in post. Travel between hospital sites may be required.

  • Deliver clinical care as outlined in the clinical section of the job description.
  • Actively work towards outlined competencies of Band 6 midwives.
  • Rotate within the maternity unit as per developmental plan.
  • Ensure orientation plan is completed.
  • To plan, implement and evaluate care with the mother and family during the antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal period.
  • Ensure care is contemporary, evidence based and equitable that encompasses spiritual and cultural beliefs and reflects the needs of a diverse society.
  • To assist with and participate in in-service training and induction programmes, as relevant.
  • To co-operate and liaise with Midwifery staff in the interest of Midwifery Education.
  • To ensure that all relevant information with due regard to the mother’s wishes in respect of personal information is entered in the mother’s / baby’s care plan and keep all observations charts up to date.
  • To ensure that staff receive reports on condition and treatment of mothers/babies, inclusive of current changes.
