Summary:
The In-Process Control (IPC) Metal Engineer develops and optimizes productions processes and equipment to achieve the safety, quality, output, and cost goals of the organization. Collects production data and applies scientific and statistical methods to analyze, document, and diagram production processes. This role is responsible for identifying production problems and likewise identifying methods for resolution. The IPC Metal Engineer evaluates quality, then recommends and implement changes to equipment, work methods and other aspects of production to improve the utilization of all relevant resources.
Other essential functions:
- Interpret precision measurement data and correlate to complete vehicle concerns.
- Actively pursue new ways of analyzing data to improve quality.
- Develop and maintain list of critical product and process indicators.
- Conduct process audits to ensure that process indicators are being properly tracked and maintained.
- Create and maintain project schedules and quality punch lists
- Lead improvement plans to validate production processes to achieve department & plant targets for both new model and current production. Aid and support Body and Stamping shop for part and process validations.
- Support and or lead Body and Stamping for root cause analysis of dimensional issues.
- Actively participate in cross functional teams to recommend and countermeasure plant wide issues.
- Create professional documents to record and track measurement results.
- Lead and support continuous improvement activities to improve CP/CPK for both Body and Stamping.
- Ensure that best practices and methods are being used for gauging activities.
- Aid and support Body and Stamping shop for part and process validations.
- Evaluate part structures and implement Design Change Requests to improve assembly and manufacturing for Body and Stamping.
- All other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associates degree in a technical field such as Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Technology, plus 1-3 years of relevant experience
- In lieu of education, 5+ years of equivalent Dimensional Engineering experience may be considered
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree plus 5+ years relevant experience
