Job description
The role covers a wide range of common and job specific skills sets that can be transferred across the manufacturing engineering industry sectors during the course of their careers. Dependent on the sector that they are employed in there may be subtle differences in terms of composition and application of the job role specific skills and knowledge they will require, however the core skills and knowledge will be the same regardless of the sector/area they work in.
Duties will include:
- Specific marking out and preparation
- Different fabrication and joining tasks
- Specific safe working practices, isolation procedures and safe reinstating of equipment/system that need to be observed

- GCSE or equivalent Maths and English (Grade C/4 or above) essential

Depending on the circumstances of the business upon completion of the apprenticeship programme there could be a potential position of employment available.

The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £4.81 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
The minimum wage rates are £6.83 an hour for 18-20 year olds, £9.18 for anyone aged 21-22 and £9.50 for anyone aged 23 and over.
