Today Oner Active is now generating £50m annual revenue and we’re now in a position to create a new operational board, where this role will sit. This role will work closely with our senior leadership team and creative director Krissy Cela to achieve the revenues of £500m in 3-5 years.
Reporting to our Co-founder, you’ll lead and build a function that ensures we always have the right stock on hand at the right time and in the right quantity through full immersion in Oner Active’s trading and demand creation activity.
You’ll use your leading edge merchandising experience and skills to build and enhance our merchandising team, its tools and processes to accurately monitor current performance and emerging trends in order to maximise sales, stock turnover and cash generation.
Key responsibilities:
- The right stock at the right time, the products our target audience wants to buy, on hand / in stock, ready to ship when the customer needs them;
- Short term: You must be able to lead the Merchandising function from a manual/spreadsheet toolset;
- Longer terms: You need to build a deploy dedicated merchandising tools / systems to unblock scale, accuracy and productivity;
- Hunt cash and value generation, planning our orders to maximise cash availability;
- Using data to optimise the sales volume and profitability of all designated product areas, continually driving profitability and margin
- Forward planning and management of budgets by category, option count, and depth of buy based on the overall business and financial goals of the company.
- Work with Founder, and Product Director to build collections that optimise sales whilst also driving strategic initiatives
- Ensure that the continuity has a robust planning to allow taking measured risks on newness
- Deliver strategic direction for product ranges and planning processes and build flexibility into the planning process to allow for changes in direction
- Optimise working capital (sell through, investment on new collection vs best sellers, delivery schedule)
- Work with Finance Director to ensure Buy meets cash flow requirements, and flex around cash requirements
- Maximise sales and sell through by collection depending on hype level or continuity.
- Optimise website sales by maximising opportunities in look and feel
- Control stock levels based on weekly sales and stock intakes, ensuring core lines are always in stock.
- Review sales forecasts based on performance, and action re forecasts where necessary, providing detailed analysis and insights on category opportunities.
- Analyse and monitor best and worst sellers making informed recommendations for actions to achieve key KPIs.
- Recommend promotions and re-buys as necessary, providing analytical support in the development of category plans.
- Supply internal stakeholders with necessary data to enable informed decisions and planning.
- Responsible for management of delivery schedule and ensuring critical path dates are maintained and stock is delivered on time.
- Use insight to influence range and merchandising plans at category reviews, working closely with the wider Product (design, development, buying) teams and demand creation / operational stakeholders.

- Utilise market research, customer insights, and sales data to identify trends, opportunities, and gaps in our product offering, and make recommendations for new product development and improvements to existing products / buying / merchandising processes;
- Create the best in class a high-performing team, providing coaching, feedback, and mentorship to ensure that team members are engaged, motivated, and delivering results;
- Manage Merch team to ensure all processes run smoothly, from product launch, sale, deliveries and planning
- Drive a culture of innovation and continuous improvement, ensuring that we are always seeking out new ideas and ways to improve our products, processes and defensible position against competitors;
ABOUT YOU
To succeed at Oner Active, you must have an entrepreneurial mindset and a growth-oriented attitude. The ideal candidate must be comfortable with ambiguity and able to navigate the fast-paced and constantly evolving nature of our direct to consumer, e-commerce apparel business.
Additionally, you must be customer-focused and have a deep understanding of our target audience. You must be passionate about apparel and have their finger on the pulse of the latest merchandising techniques, process and active apparel trends and styles. You must be creative and innovative, with the ability to anticipate and respond to changing customer needs and preferences, before they happen.
Finally, You will need to be a collaborative and inclusive leader, with a willingness to listen to and learn from diverse perspectives. You must be able to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders and be a champion for the brand and its values.
You have:
- 8+ years of experience in apparel merchandising management, with a track record of driving successful stock turnover and cash/value generation;
- Strong e-commerce experience is a must
- Excellent understanding of product and consumer market and what activewear consumer wants
- Minimum 3-4 years in a Head of Merchandising role or minimum 1-2 years in Merchandising director role
- Strong commercial acumen and experience managing a P&L, with the ability to make data-driven decisions and balance business objectives with creative vision;
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team to achieve results and drive innovation;
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to build relationships and work effectively with cross-functional teams;
- Experience working in a direct-to-consumer ecommerce business is highly desirable.
