We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, analytical, and commercial thinking individual to join our growing Buying and Merchandise team. The successful candidate will support the Head of Merchandising to deliver sales and stock targets agreed by the business.

As an Assistant Merchandiser your main area of responsibility will be to ensure our stores, website and associated retailers are able to maximise their sales by maintaining stock levels that sit within agreed limits.

Main Responsibilities
  • Work closely with the Merchandiser/Buyer to ensure that the department KPI’s and strategy are achieved.
  • Assist the Merchandiser in the preparation of range analysis packs in line with business strategies.
  • Assist the Merchandiser with analysis of performance and product trends to build on successes.
  • Accurately and comprehensively prepare any reports requested for weekly trading and any other meetings ensuring they are completed comprehensively and to any deadlines set.
  • Work closely with Buying Coordinator to ensure order dates are up to date and accurate, highlighting and issues to Merchandiser/Buyer.
  • Ensure maximum availability of NOOS (Never out of stock) lines.
  • Reviews weekly sales performance and stock volumes and identify any opportunities and highlight any issues.
  • Has clear understanding of stock holding and spend positions.
  • Monitor and maintain store gradings/rankings to manage stock targets.
  • Manage our product “tail” ensuring we are getting best ROI from all stock.
  • Assists with the preparation and review of promotional activity.
  • Assists Merchandiser to liaise with other departments of the business, Marketing, Retail, Stock in, VM, Finance etc, to provide these departments with the information necessary to enable them to perform efficiently.
  • Develop an appropriate knowledge of all relevant systems.
  • Assist in the department strategy, demonstrating an understanding of the merchandising figures to actively contribute and make suggestions.
  • Assists Buying coordinators in the building of range plans and ensures all updates are complete in a timely manner and inputted correctly.
  • Deputise for the Merchandiser where applicable.
The Ideal Candidate

ESSENTIAL SKILLS

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Office programs.
  • Ability and desire to give/receive feedback well.
  • Excellent market knowledge and commercial awareness.
  • Highly organised and motivated.
  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to think on your feet.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

DESIRED SKILLS

  • Passed Jet 1 and 2 (Certificate and Diploma).
  • A knowledge of NAV.
  • An ability to demonstrate previous project management experience.
  • Hold full driving licence.
