About the role
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced merchandising assistant who is organised and detailed-oriented with strong communication and teamwork skills. The role will support the Merchandising Team in delivering growth across all the revenue streams within Retail.
The Natural History Museum’s Retail business is a critical source of income for the Museum and supports vital work in helping people and planet thrive, including the work of over 300 scientists.
The Retail business is split across 3 permanent onsite shops and additional temporary ones for exhibitions, an expanding online business and wholesale operation.
The role will cover all product ranges including books, toys, clothing, homeware, jewellery, stationery and souvenir gifts.
You will work with the buying and operation teams to assist with merchandising matters and manage relationships with external suppliers to establish an effective supply chain. There is also the opportunity to work with other departments across the Museum.
The position reports into the Merchandising Manager and is hybrid, with at least one day per week to be based at the Museum in South Kensington.
About you
You have a minimum of 1 years’ experience working in a similar role in High Street and/or Heritage retail, can demonstrate good analytical skills and are commercially focused.
You are comfortable working in a fast paced, multi-project environment and can clearly communicate ideas and issues and find solutions which align with the Retail and overall Museum strategy.
You will have good organisational and time management skills to effectively prioritise work responsibilities to achieve deadlines.
You have strong attention to detail and the ability to find your own ways of working with systems to process and analyse data.
You love working as part of a team and can communicate across internal teams and departments as well as external suppliers.
You are confident using merchandising and reporting systems and have good knowledge of MS Excel.
