Job Introduction

Are you highly motivated to raise the profile of Mental Health and Emotional Wellbeing (MHEW) in schools, colleges and settings to improve outcomes for children and young people with MHEW needs?

This is an exciting opportunity to join our developing team of Mental Health and Emotional Wellbeing Advisers. The role is situated in the Education Division, Children’s Services and will work alongside the other MHEW Advisers and the Mental Health Support Teams (MHST). The role is to support key staff across schools and colleges in undertaking their responsibilities for supporting universal emotional wellbeing needs, as well as pupils with additional needs. A key focus will be in building capacity in local schools and colleges through staff development, training, and sharing of best practice.

This role, while countywide, could be based in one of our offices in Hastings or Eastbourne.

We are looking for candidates who have Qualified Teacher Status and:

  • Experience and understanding of supporting mental health and emotional wellbeing needs in education.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to influence and work collaboratively with stakeholders.
  • Skills in developing and delivering training.
  • Knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice.
