Position Summary

The Medical Writer’s main function is to produce outstanding, medically accurate, technical campaign materials, which reflects the client’s brand strategy and answers the brief.

Responsibilities

Produce ‘great stuff’

  • Write scientifically accurate, grammatically correct copy to a deadline
  • Manage numerous projects in a timely manner
  • Display good understanding of client’s goals, disease area, brands (including brand strategy), processes and the pharmaceutical industry (codes of practice, regulation)
  • Understand the audience and requirements of each project and adapt the writing style, tone, and “voice” of the work as required
  • Able to explain scientific concepts to colleagues
  • Able to create a brand story beyond the clinical data
  • Interested to keep learning and developing therapy area knowledge
  • Upload copy via Zinc
  • Create Reference Packs for Clients accurately and promptly

Demonstrates teamwork at all times

  • Work effectively with the brand team including Art Directors, Designers, Copywriters, Account Handling and clients
  • Always follows the Agency Standard Operating Procedure
  • Present early concept development to senior team member
  • Mentor / Buddy junior writers and new team members
  • Ensure a full understanding of what is required before starting work, asking questions and challenging team members where necessary

  • Understands the client (and the facts and context surrounding them), the product facts, the legal liability (what we can/can’t say in communication); and the competitive landscape
  • Has thorough knowledge and understanding of agency processes and the time required to complete each stage
  • Presents work professionally to clients
  • Support the wider team on prospecting pitches
  • Acts as an advocate and supporter of DDB Remedy in all interactions with the client or external suppliers

Qualifications and
Skills


Desirable:

  • Science Graduate or equivalent
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent understanding of relevant UK and International code – eg ABPI
