Grants and Communications Coordinator
About the Position:
Fit4Kids is seeking a highly motivated, energetic professional for our full-time Grants and
Communications Coordinator position. This position will primarily focus on researching, writing, and managing foundation, corporate, and government grants. Additionally, they will manage certain communication and marketing responsibilities, for example our e-newsletter and social media. Our ideal candidate will also support our Young Professionals Board as a staff liaison and have other opportunities for growth. They must be self-motivated, flexible, and have incredible attention to detail. We are willing to train the right candidate with excellent writing, time management, and critical thinking skills. We are seeking a professional with the desire to learn and grow with a great attitude.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
● Manage a portfolio of grants including writing organized and compelling proposals and reports
● Understand the objectives, programs, and financial needs of Fit4Kids and research new grant opportunities
● Maintain a communication and grants calendar of all relevant deadlines for LOIs, proposals, reports
● Maintain a positive relationship with funders, board members, and other stakeholders
● Collaborate closely with Development Director and program team to fully understand programs in order to serve as part of our fundraising team
● Create compelling content for e-newsletter and Fit4Kids social media accounts
● “Other duties as assigned”...for example, our Development Director recently supported kayaking for our summer camp and our CEO co-led a 5 week cooking class. We are the kind of team who jumps in when needed and seeks a teammate who thrives in that environment.
Qualifications:
● 2+ years of grant writing and/or communication experience preferred but not required
● Motivated self-starter with strong interpersonal communication skills, both oral and written
● Excellent writing skills
● A strong attention to detail, multitasking, and meeting deadlines.
● Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel, and the Google Drive platform
● Demonstrated commitment to Fit4Kids’ mission and values of collaboration, excellence, equity, persistence, and possibility
● Fit4Kids follows mask and vaccination requirements of Richmond Public Schools.
Currently, a COVID vaccination is required.

Salary and Benefits:
We are open to hiring someone with little or no experience OR a Development /
Communications professional with several years experience. Starting salary will be $40,000 to
$50,000 depending on experience. Fit4Kids offers generous benefits including health and dental insurance, retirement plan match, paid vacation, and a flexible work environment.
