We are recruiting forSenior Medical Scientist (Quality Co-Ordinator and Training Officer) who wishes to join #TeamIOWNHS. An opportunity has arisen for a full time Band 7 Senior Biomedical Scientist to join the team within Blood Sciences at St. Mary’s Hospital on the Isle of Wight.
The ideal candidate would possess an MSc in a Blood Sciences subject, IBMS Fellowship examination or equivalent experience in Haematology, along with laboratory experience of Haem/BT post registration and significant experience of training laboratory staff of all grades as this post will be the training Lead within Blood Sciences.
Candidates with significant experience in Haematology and Blood Transfusion are welcome to apply. We will support further training for the right candidate.
Blood Sciences comprises Biochemistry, Haematology and Blood Transfusion Laboratories. The department has been refurbished to a high standard. Haematology is equipped with DxH 900’s and ACL TOPS coagulation analysers. Blood Transfusion utilises Ortho Vision Analysers.
There is also a small manual section to provide other tests, which includes Tosoh HPLC equipment for haemoglobinopathy testing as well as digital morphology.
There is a 24/7 service in place and the successful candidate will be required to participate in the system once competent.
We are looking to appoint a HCPC registered BMS who can contribute to the Service we provide to the residents of the Isle of Wight and its visitors.
The Blood Sciences Laboratory currently holds UKAS accreditation. The Department holds IBMS training status and offers Specialist Portfolio and apprenticeships.
