Job Title: Medical Records Clerk
Trust Location: Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
Would you like to be a part of a team that works well together, always there to help each other? If you answered yes, Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is the place for you.
About the Trust
Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is one of the UK’s largest, busiest, and most successful NHS foundation trusts. We provide a full range of hospital and community services for people in Sheffield, as well as specialist care for patients from further afield.
What you’ll be responsible for:
· Prepare case notes and loose documents to be scanned by separating each sheet and removing all staples, clips etc.
· Sort case notes as they are returned to medical records for filing. This involves several hundred sets of case notes per day. Redirect those required elsewhere in the Trust. Identify notes belonging to other hospitals, record them in the appropriate log and return via the postal system.
· Filing of all case notes in the main filing rooms on a daily basis. This involves working both at height and on ground level and includes frequent bending and lifting often in restricted working areas.
· Daily pulling of large volumes of case notes for outpatient clinics from Pinpoint tracking system, printing delivery notes and missing case note sheets. This involves the use of ladders/kick stools as the case notes are stored up to ceiling height and requires a high degree of physical effort due to the weight and bulk of the notes required for each clinic.
You’ll learn the following whilst working at the trust:
1. An in depth understanding of the roles and responsibilities involved in working within the NHS
2. Knowledge of the systems used, to effectively complete your role to the highest standard at all times
3. A sense of teamwork, gained through working alongside and supporting colleagues from all levels, within the organisation
You’ll have the following skills/experience:
· Excellent communication skills- both verbal and written
· Microsoft office skills- Outlook, Word, and Excel
· Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
· Previous admin experience
