Job description

Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT ) is the largest acute trust in the UK, with over 25,000 staff caring for over million patients a year. Combining 10 hospitals and community services from across Greater Manchester, we provide outstanding patient care and services.

Our ambition is to build on our leading initiatives and revolutionize the way we work together. That’s why we’re embarking on a programmed of unprecedented transformation that will see cutting-edge digital solutions integrated across all our sites and services. This is an opportunity to develop your skills at the forefront of advances in healthcare management.

You’ll work in one of the most progressive an innovative Informatics departments in the NHS, backed by significant multi-million pound investment. From introducing enterprise-wide Electronic Patient Records (EPR) to data warehousing and business intelligence that support the decision-making of clinical and operational staff, we’re using technology to increase organisational efficiency and improve patient health outcomes.

We’re moving rapidly from paper to electronic records across the MFT organisation, to help us provide better quality and continuity of care – wherever patients are treated. A key member of this ongoing transformation, you’ll co-ordinate and deliver a high-performing health records service, ensuring performance and quality are maintained, while seeking out new and more efficient ways of working. At the same time, you’ll manage a Health Records Team, providing support, guidance and training to help them achieve their full potential. You will also support our Subject Access team and Service Manager.

It is vital that our workforce is reflective of the population that we serve, so we hold an unwavering ambition to be a trusted employer for colleagues from every background. Discrimination has no place in our workplaces, so we celebrate diversity and we promote equality of opportunity. Joining an inclusive employer who values the contribution of every individual, you will find a workplace that is both friendly and supportive.

MFT is England’s largest NHS Trust with a turnover of £2.5bn & is on a different scale than most other NHS Trusts. We’re creating an exceptional integrated health & social care system for the 1 million patients who rely on our services every year.

Bringing together 10 hospitals & community services from across Manchester, Trafford & beyond, we champion collaborative working & transformation, encouraging our 28,000 workforce to pursue their most ambitious goals. We set standards that other Trusts seek to emulate so you’ll benefit from a scale of opportunity that is nothing short of extraordinary.

We’ve also created a digitally enabled organisation to improve clinical quality, patient & staff experience, operational effectiveness & driving research and innovation through the introduction of Hive; our brand-new Electronic Patient Record system which we’ve launched in September 2022.

We’re proud to be a major academic Research Centre & Education provider, providing you with a robust infrastructure to encourage and facilitate high-quality research programmes. What’s more, we’re excited to be embarking on our new Green Plan which will set out how MFT continues to play its part in making healthcare more sustainable.

At MFT, we create and foster a culture of inclusion and belonging, provide equal opportunities for career development that are fair, open and transparent, protecting your health and wellbeing and shaping the future of our organisation together.
