We are currently seeking an enthusiastic, motivated, friendly, and flexible individual to join the Blood Transfusion Department as a Medical Laboratory Assistant. You must have a keen interest in science and healthcare and be prepared to learn.
The successful applicant will play a key role in the Blood Transfusion team, processing specimens and supporting the Biomedical Scientists to ensure safe, effective, and efficient transfusion testing and blood component provision.
The main qualities required for this role include excellent attention to detail, concentration, and strong communication and teamwork skills. Training can be provided to those who have not previously worked in a clinical laboratory, although experience in a Blood Transfusion Laboratory is desirable

Medical Laboratory Assistants (MLAs) are essential for the smooth operation of the laboratory. You will be responsible for handling blood component units, updating IT systems with unit status, performing stock checks, and conducting analyzer maintenance and troubleshooting. Additionally, you will process patient samples, which includes entering patient details into the laboratory IT system and answering phone calls. You must adhere to the Blood Safety and Quality Regulations and work collaboratively with the team to ensure the safe transfusion of all blood components to our patients
