Job description
Who You'll Work With
You will be based in our London office for a duration of 6-12 weeks. You will work with McKinsey colleagues on a mixture of internal and client-based healthcare-related projects.
McKinsey’s UK Medical Elective Programme was introduced in 2009 with aim of encouraging early tenured doctors to become more effective clinical leaders. It also aims to promote a better understanding of the challenges faced by continuously improving healthcare systems amongst future doctors.
As part of this programme, you will benefit from the full range of e-learning and apprenticeship opportunities available at McKinsey.
This elective opportunity may therefore be of interest and value to those who wish to pursue a future career in NHS management.
What You'll Do
You’ll work in teams of typically 3 – 5 consultants, to identify, and oftentimes implement, potential solutions for a specific client problem or challenge.
A majority of your work will focus on healthcare related projects. You will help our clients in the healthcare space make lasting improvements to their performance and realize their most important goals.
To be eligible, you must apply as part of your medical school’s formal elective programme. You must also be available to spend a minimum of six weeks with McKinsey (with an option to extend up to twelve weeks in total). We are hosting interviews on Thursday 31st August.
Applications must be submitted by Monday 31st July. A bursary is available from McKinsey towards the cost of the elective.
The medical elective internship programme is a non-evaluative fixed-term programme. An application for the internship program is not an application for employment with McKinsey.
