Full Job Description:

A robust Rheumatology medical practice in San Leandro CA is seeking an experienced and dedicated medical biller / Insurance eligibility specialist, who is well versed in all aspects of the revenue cycle management process and insurance eligibility. Responsibilities:

• Run aging reports and research, collect, appeal or re-bill
• Initiate written appeals for contract discrepancies and underpayments
• Correct and appeal claims
• Process payments
• Research and follow up through phone calls, investigative work, and rebilling to assure accounts are resolved in a timely manner
• Review underpayment to determine reason and appropriate action required to correct discrepancies
• Handle all levels of questions from insurance companies, governmental agencies, and patients
• Identify and resolve patient billing questions
• Follow up on unpaid insurance claims and self-pay balances
• Post charges.
• Investigate the rejected claim to see why denial was issued.
• Enhance the billing department by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests.
• Check insurance eligibility before patients come for their appointments.
• Flexible in taking on new work assignments and working in new processes.
• Bi Monthly status report to Office Manager and CFO
• All other assignments are directed by Office Manager/ CFO

Qualifications

• 5+ years of related experience in medical insurance billing required
• Must have EMR/EHR experience. Epic a plus!
• Thorough knowledge of coordination of benefits
• Must have strong verbal and written communication skills
• Must have the ability to multi task in a fast-paced environment
