Job description
We have a full-time vacancy for a Clinical Trials Pharmacy Assistant Band 2 (with progression to Band 3).
You must have good communication skills, attention to detail and be able to work under pressure. You will also be expected to work effectively both independently and as a part of the team. Full training will be provided for this post but IT skills and pharmacy experience are desirable.
Your main duty would be to assist in the provision of a clinical trials pharmacy service for the patients within the Trust. You will be expected to:
- Label and dispense clinical trial medication according to Standard Operating Procedures
- Receive and check deliveries for accuracy and ensure that all necessary documentation is completed and maintained
- Monitor and record the environmental temperature on a daily basis and provide stock top-up service where required
- Accurately count and record all clinical trials materials that are returned to pharmacy
- Set up and confirm/cancel appointments/meetings with research personnel on behalf of the pharmacy clinical trials team and resolve basic enquiries as appropriate
- Assist with the maintenance of clinical trials records and files

Role Summary – Band 2
- To provide assistance in the provision of pharmacy clinical trial services for patients within the Trust including dispensing clinical trial prescriptions, environmental monitoring, stock management, administrative duties and supporting monitoring visits.
- To deal with complex dispensing stock management and day-to-day issues.
- In the absence of the clinical trials pharmacy technician, plan the daily dispensing and workload, prioritising as required.
- Assist with the setup and maintenance of the pharmacy file.
- To supervise the work of Band 2 staff members and contribute where appropriate to the training of new staff.
