Job description
SUMMARY
Assists the school nurse in maintaining a comprehensive school health program. Cares for the health needs of students at a TUSD school under the direct/indirect supervision of the school nurse. Performs the essential duties and functions of a health assistant: attending to urgent medical need, personal and hygiene needs, maintaining medical records and health folders, administering prescribed medications according to instructions, and routine clerical duties.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma or G.E.D.
One year of experience in a school health environment, or health care setting such as: health assistant, patient care technician, teacher assistant with medically fragile students or similar
Knowledge of the universal precautions for handling body fluids
Verbal & written communication skills in English and a demonstrated ability to read and comprehend written/graphic and oral instructions
CPR and First Aid Certification.
Any equivalent combination of experience, training, or education
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
Three years of experience in a health care setting or school health environment
Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Certified Medical Assistant (MA), or Patient Care Technician (PCT) Certification
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS AFTER HIRE
FBI fingerprint background check
Proof of immunity to rubeola (measles) and rubella (German measles), or proof of MMR immunization
CPR and First Aid Certification must be submitted at the time of hire. Certification must be maintained current during the course of employment
Must release Social Security Number to be eligible for [AZ Health Care Cost Containment System] AHCCS-Provider ID Number

Positions Available:
Pueblo Gardens K-8 - 33rd Street & Campbell Area - .94 FTE - 7.5 hours per day
Positions less than 30 hours per week are not eligible for district benefits.
