The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) in the Center for Perioperative Optimization ambulatory practice functions as an integral member of the interdisciplinary team. The CMA has duties and responsibilities related to patient care in the ambulatory clinic environment. The CMA functions under the direct supervision and authority of the physician when performing patient care. The CMA reports to the clinic manager or lead nurse, who is responsible for the administrative supervision and orientation of the CMA to the area's policies and procedures. The CMA obtains vital signs, assists patient in preparation for examination/ procedure, records and documents in the medical record, ensures safe & efficient patient flow, administers medications and immunizations, and organizes the clinic environment to assure patient safety. The individual displays responsible behaviors, communicates effectively to others and functions at the highest level based on scope of practice. This position is limited to ambulatory clinics only.
Shift:
Full Time (40 hours)
Day Shift, 8:30 am - 5:00 pm
No Nights or Weekends!
Certified Medical Assistant Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Graduate from an Accredited Medical Assistant Program
- AAMA, RMA, NRCMA, NCMA or CCMA certification required
- AHA Healthcare Provider CPR/BLS Certification
The Certified Medical Asistant (CMA) is familiar with medical terminology and documenting in electronic health record.
The CMA must demonstrate competency in all skills related to the performance of patient care. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Effective time management and organizational skills.
