An exciting opportunity has arisen for a School Health Assistant Screening Lead working term time only to work in the Healthy Child Programme5-19 (HCP) team , offering support to children, young people and their families.
The post holder will be responsible for coordinating and supporting a team of SHAs who undertake the National Child Measurement Programme and vision and hearing screening in reception year.
- To contribute to the improvement of services by evaluating the processes involved in vision and hearing screening and the National Child Measurement Programme (NCMP) and taking a lead role in making these more effective.
- To develop and communicate standards and expected levels of performance to other School Health Assistants (SHAs), and act as a role model.
- To communicate proactively with the school nursing team any behaviours or concerns identified whilst undertaking role of SHAs.
- To liaise between the School Nursing team and other professionals involved in screening and measurement programmes, for example, orthoptist, audiologist, and National Childhood Measurement Programme (NCMP) leads. To act as a liaison with outside companies supplying software packages used in screening if applicable.
- Works with the school nursing team to promote the physical and mental health of children, by undertaking screening and measurement programmes and associated health promotion work, supervised by a qualified School Nurse.
