We are looking for a Care Assistant to provide support for a mature lady with a brain injury in their own home and out in the community.

Job Type: Permanent / Full-Time
Pay:
- £11.60 p/h Weekdays
- £12.80 p/h Weekends
- £76 sleep ins
- Double time on Bank Holidays
Hours:
- 16 hours per week plus one sleep in shift / 32 hours per week plus 2 sleep in shifts
- This includes evening, weekend, bank holiday shifts and sleep in duties.
This vacancy is only open to women and requires a proficient understanding and spoken capacity of the English language - GOR applies.
You will be expected to work with a mature woman with a brain injury, supporting them within their own home and in the local community.
There will also be personal care and domestic duties within the service user's house along with accompanying them into the community, you would act as a driver for the service user (driving the service user's car).
All necessary training will be provided for the role along with supervision and support.
What you'll get up to:
- Working with a service user with disability at home and in the local community
- Helping the service user participate in recreational and leisure activities
- Providing personal care
- Providing nutritional meals for the service user as directed by therapist
- You'll act as a driver for the service user as necessary
- You'll accompany the service user in the community
- You'll accompany the service user on holidays and weekends away when required
- You'll carry out domestic duties in the service user's house as appropriate
- You'll work alongside the service user's therapists and assist with agreed rehabilitation strategies and techniques
Requirements:
- We are looking for someone that is caring, kind, compassionate, considerate
- Experience caring for someone in their own home
- Non smoker with good mental & physical stamina
- Must have a full and valid UK driving license and confident to drive the service user's car
- Physical capability to move and handle the service user
- Confident working with 2 dogs in the family home
- At least 3 years experience is required in health and social care
Preferences:
- Experience of working with a person with a brain injury
- Experience of working with service users in their own homes
- Interest in arts and crafts!
Details:
- Up to 32 hours per week plus 16 hrs sleep in. Shifts are 24hrs long and include a sleep in
- Permanent contract with a 6 month probationary period
- You will be employed by the service user but managed by the Case Manager
- You will receive initial training and induction and regular supervision with the Case Manager
- 5.6 weeks paid leave. Two weeks leave (i.e., a half of your annual leave entitlement) must be taken when the service user is on holiday.

Experience:
- caring for someone in their own home: 1 year (preferred)

- professional care (working for a care provider in the UK): 1 year (required)
Licence/Certification:
- right to work full time in the UK without sponsorship (required)
