NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs
If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.
If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on-site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date.
What Your Job Will Be Like
Organization 03733, Acute Care, is currently seeking a Medical Assistant to assist nurse and clinician personnel on their team!
The selected candidate will be responsible for checking in patients, assisting in obtaining patient histories, taking vital signs, preparing charts, assisting with medical examinations and performance of specialized medical procedures of a routine nature as dictated by established clinical protocols, and other administrative services.
On any given day, one may be called upon to:
- Assist with direct patient care procedures and related tasks
- Maintain assigned duties and stocks of medical supplies
- Assist physicians with lab reviews, patient correspondence, and prescription drug refill requests
- Educate and advise patients on specified medical issues within established parameters
- Maintain records of patients treated, prepare accident reports, and provide health information
- Perform additional duties as determined by clinic needs or management
Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite.
Qualifications We Require
- A High School diploma, plus 3 years related experience in a health care field; or equivalent experience and/or achievements that demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of the job
- An active and current Medical Assistant Certification from an accredited program
- The ability to acquire and maintain a Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- The ability to acquire and maintain a DOE L-level security clearance
Qualifications We Desire

- A national registry/certification in medical assisting
- Knowledge of and experience with the following:
- Assisting with Acute and/or Urgent Care patients
- Patient advocacy and occupational health issues, including protection of patient health information
- Safety, environment, and infection control
- Effective communication techniques
- A strong customer focus with the ability to interact with a large cross section of colleagues, customers, and partners
- The ability to model behaviors that reflect Sandia's core values

Security Clearance
Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Position Information
This Limited Term Employee (LTE) position is a temporary position for one year term, which may be renewed at Sandia's discretion up to a maximum of seven years.
Individuals in LTE positions may bid on regular Sandia positions as internal candidates, and in some cases may be converted to regular career positions during their term if warranted by ongoing operational needs, continuing availability of funds, and satisfactory job performance.
