Overview
Medical Assistants report to and take direction from the office managers. Medical Assistants are multi-skilled members of a health care team, who perform administrative and clinical procedures under the supervision of licensed health care providers. They are expected to deliver high quality care services in a fast-paced environment.
Essential Functions
· Responsible for rendering professional health care to patients within the practice according to established standards and as directed by the providers
· Performs proper documentation of vital signs, and history in electronic medical record system
· Verifies patient information by interviewing patient; recording medical history; confirming purpose of visit.
- Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations.
· Maintains patient confidentiality
· Ensure all related reports, labs and information is available in patients’ medical records prior to their appointment
· Provide coverage at other offices as needed
· Understands and follows HIPAA regulations
· Performs CLIA waived procedures as indicated by the providers and company algorithm
· Performing Spirometry and EKG’S on a routine basis
· Adheres to OSHA regulations
· Perform phlebotomy services; Possess skills required for proper specimen collection, including labeling, handling, processing, transportation, and storage of specimens
· Routinely review and complete patient required quality measures required for maintaining routine health and diagnostic testing
· Possess skills required to follow quality control policies and procedures
· Confirms ordered labs are ordered correctly in electronic record to include correct reference lab
· Maintains all patient care areas in an aseptic manner, and disinfects all workstations and equipment daily
· Screen your own schedule
· Restocks all treatment areas with supplies each day
Other Duties and Responsibilities
· Performs other duties as assigned or apparent by the Office Manager or Management Committee
Requirements
· High school diploma or equivalent
· Effective use of English grammar, spelling, and vocabulary
· Must be able to work independently as well as with a team
· Experience working in a multi-cultural environment
· Efficient and accurate data-entry skills
· Have strong organization and attention to detail with the ability to handle multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment
· Analytical – need to be able to understand and follow a medical chart and diagnoses
· Must be professional courteous and motivated
· Must be able to multitask
· Ability to work effectively under continuing pressure and possible interruptions
· Be proficient with computers/EMR
· Maintains strictest confidentiality always adheres to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent
· Medical Assistant certificate preferred but not required
Licensure:
· CPR (and maintains)
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $24.50 per hour
