Maryland Pain Specialists is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant for an immediate opening. We prefer a candidate with at least 1 year experience in a medical office setting. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: escorting, chaperoning, scribing, vitals, assisting in procedures, inventory & circulating through the front office positions. Candidate needs to be a strong TEAM player with initiative, willing to step in wherever needed. Reliable transportation is necessary as there may be occasional travel to our hospital location. Responsibilities and Duties
1. Accurately take and document vitals
2. Chaperone during patient exams when requested
3. Escort patients to the exam/procedure rooms
4. Send urine samples to the lab if lab tech is absent
5. Order pump refill kits
6. Inventory and stock procedure room
7. Assist physicians during procedures by escorting the patient, obtaining vitals, obtaining consent form, log medication, chaperone as requested & recover occipital injection patients.
8. Clean procedure room and equipment following each procedure
9. Other duties such as cross training, covering &/or helping other employees
10. Attend to outstanding work for satellite office appointments when documents are returned to main office
11. Address needs in providers out-boxes by returning fax responses, notify patients of Rx pick-up, lock up narcotic Rx, mail non-narcotic Rx after verifying patients address, call for reports or labs as requested by providers
12. Download ultrasound images
13. Scribe work consisting of entering patients past medical/medication history and scanning documents into the electronic medical record using the MA check list or as otherwise directed by provider
14. Successful completion of annual OSHA and HIPAA training required
15. Stock & rotate medication samples as determined by expiration dates and destroy/discard expired medication on a regular basis
16. Start/open visit notes as determined by provider preference.
17. Obtain prescription authorization as needed
18. Perform Urine Drug Screen proficiency test quarterly.
19. Assist medical secretaries with front office duties
20. Administrative duties
Qualifications and Skills
Certification from a recognized medical assistance program preferred

Experience:
- EMR systems: 1 year (Preferred)
- Vital signs: 1 year (Preferred)
