Job description
We are looking for a competent Health Care Assistant to join our friendly team, working Monday and Tuesday.
Main duties of the job: You will support the practice nursing team in the delivery of nursing services, working as part of the practice multidisciplinary team, delivering care within your scope of practice to our patient population. You will deliver and assist clinical staff in the provision of treatment, preventative care, health promotion and patient education.
About us, Lawson Road Surgery is a very friendly GP practice located close to the city centre of Norwich. We are an established medical training practice and have just over 8400 patients. Job responsibilities · Carry out venepuncture to obtain blood samples from patients · Undertake new patient health checks · Undertake ECGs · Support the practice nurse with health promotion programmes · Carry out baseline observations such as pulse oximetry, blood pressure, temperature, pulse rate, recording findings accurately · Undertake wound care, dressings and other clinical tasks as required · Support the practice nurse with the management of chronic disease clinics · Act as a chaperone as required ·
When trained, administer flu vaccinations ·
Ensure specimens are recorded and ready for onward transportation
Provide support during minor operations as required
Ensure all clinical rooms are adequately stocked and prepared for each session · Ensure clinical waste is removed from clinical areas and sharps bins replaced in accordance with the practice IPC policy · Deliver opportunistic health promotion where appropriate · Healthcare qualification or equivalent level · Phlebotomy certification Desirable · Effective time management · Excellent communication skills · Ability to work within a team · Ability to follow clinical procedures and policies · Ability to work under pressure · Commitment to ongoing professional development.
Experience Essential · Experience of working in a healthcare setting and with the general public · Be able to perform venepuncture, ECG's and the treatment of small injuries/simple wound care.
Desirable · Long term disease management and patient health checks
Pay will be dependent on experience.
Job Type: Part-time
Salary: £10.80-£11.50 per hour
