Job description
We are looking for the ideal candidate to fill the Allergy Medical Assistant position. The candidate must have a dynamic and professional personality and be a detail-oriented, enthusiastic, empathetic, self-motivated problem solver, and a team player while demonstrating positivity towards their role and the clinic's mission of providing exceptional patient care.
Daily responsibilities include but are not limited to:
· Allergy Testing, injections, and serum preparation
· Reports to clinic coordinator or practice administrator
· Perform nursing procedures under supervision of physician or physician assistant
· Assist physician or physician assistant in exam rooms
· Escort patients to exam rooms, interviews patients, measure vital signs including weight, blood pressure, pulse temperature and document all the information in patient chart.
· Give instructions to patient as instructed by physician or physician assistant.
· Scheduling of surgeries, verification of insurance, collection of insurance charges, explain surgery and insurance charges to patient.
· Ensure all related reports, labs and information is filed and available in patients’ medical record prior to their appointment. Filing of medical records, importing of paper charts into EHR (daily)
· Keep exam rooms stocked with adequate medical supplies, maintain instruments, prepare sterilization as required
· Take telephone messages and provide feedback and answers to patient/physician/pharmacy calls
· Triage and process messages from patients and front office staff to physicians and physician assistant.
· Maintain all logs and required checks (i.e. refrigerator temperatures, emergency medications, expired medications, oxygen cold sterilizations fluid change, scope and autoclave cleaning etc.)
· Assisting the front office with check in and assisting patients with Phreesia pads.
· All other duties as assigned by clinic coordinator/Lead or practice administrator
Knowledge and Qualification:
· Knowledge in Healthcare field and Allergy
· Exceptional customer service and phone etiquette
· Ability to maintain effective and organized systems to ensure timely patient flow.
· Applicant must be polished and present excellent communication skills
· Experience in working in a private practice setting is highly desirable
· Applicant must have the ability to multi-task and have working knowledge of medical terminology, writing prescriptions and surgery terminology
· Basic proficiency in MS Office (Word, Outlook)
· Knowledge of EHR
