GI Alliance is seeking an experienced Medical Assistant - Infusion.
Duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
Position purpose
This position may be involved in both the clinical and administrative areas for the companys infusion center. Provides information to patients so they may fully utilize and benefit from the services provided by the infusion center.
Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks:
- Fulfills patient care and clerical responsibilities as assigned that may include verification of pertinent labs and progress notes as it pertains to medication orders- order labs if necessary, verification of authorization (insurance) prior to scheduling patients for infusion, communication with all staff including physicians to ensure correct patient orders, authorizations, labs, etc. , scheduling patients for infusions/follow ups with physicians/reminder calls/reschedules, assist RN when necessary- obtaining vital signs, ordering supplies, chart checks for next day appointments, stocking of supplies in infusion suite, and ensuring everything is in place for next day and day of appointments, work hand in hand with Infusion RN to make sure each patient has everything necessary and ensure a great patient experience in the infusion suite.
- Fulfills organizational responsibilities as assigned including respecting/promoting patient rights; responding appropriately to emergency codes; sharing problems relating to patients and/or staff with immediate supervisor.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education: High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED), medical assistant diploma from an accredited vocational institution, or a college course in medical assisting.
Experience: Minimum one year of recent experience working in a medical facility as a medical assistant and/or documented evidence of externship completed in a medical office. Experience working in an infusion center is preferred.
Requirements for Level I Status:
- Entry level (1-4 years experience) and/or meet the basic requirements of the job with the need for additional supervision.
- Excess of 4 years experience if meeting only the basic requirements of the job with need for additional supervision.
Performance Requirements:
- Knowledge of health care field and EMR systems.
- Skill in performing medical assistance tasks appropriately.

- Skill in understanding patient education needs by effectively sharing information with patients and families.
- Ability to learn and retain information regarding patient care practices and procedures.

- Ability to demonstrate compassion and caring in dealing with others.
