School Nursing Service – Health Care Assistant -35 hrs Term Time Only
We have a vacancy for a Health Care Assistant in our School Nursing service
Hillingdon has a dynamic and motivated school nursing service and we are delivering an innovative and progressive service. This is an exciting place to work and we have excellent partnership working with schools, the local council and other agencies.
The School Nursing Service comprises of skill mix teams and delivers core and targeted health input to all school aged children. This includes screening programmes in addition to safeguarding processes.
The successful applicant may have contact with patients or service users. As an NHS Trust we strongly encourage and support vaccination as this remains the best way to protect yourself, your family, your colleagues and of course patients and service users when working on our healthcare settings.
- Carrying out vision and hearing screening for primary aged children in schools
- Weighing and measuring children as part of the national child measurement programme.
- Helping in other programmes of work under the direction of the school nursing team.

We are looking for a practitioner who has a flexible approach and who has the skills to deliver the service to the local children.
An understanding of safeguarding and working with vulnerable families is desirable. the successful applicant will be flexible, motivated and enthusiastic individual who can communicate effectively, and is able to work independently as well as part of a team.
The successful applicant will work alongside the school nursing team carrying out vision and hearing screening to primary school aged children as well as weighing and measuring children as part of the national measurement programme and helping in other programmes of work under the direction of the school nurse.
