Job Description

Job Title: Medical Assistant (MA)

Job Summary:

The Medical Assistant (MA) is responsible for performing a variety of administrative and clinical tasks under the supervision of a healthcare provider. The MA assists with patient care, examinations, and treatments, and provides general support to the healthcare team.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Prepares patients for examination and treatment
• Takes and records vital signs such as blood pressure, temperature, and weight
• Assists with medical procedures as directed by a healthcare provider
• Administers medications as ordered by a healthcare provider
• Collects, prepares, and processes lab specimens
• Performs electrocardiograms (EKGs) and other diagnostic tests
• Performs basic wound care and removal of sutures and staples
• Maintains medical records and documentation
• Schedules appointments and makes referrals for patients as needed
• Performs other duties as assigned by healthcare provider

Qualifications and Skills:

• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Completion of a medical assisting program or equivalent experience
• Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients and healthcare team
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Computer literacy and proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) systems
