Job Summary:
The Certified Medical Assistant/Front Desk Receptionist (CMA/FDR) will serve as a key member of the patient care team in an ambulatory setting. The CMA/FDR will work closely with providers across multiple specialties as well as with other clinical and administrative staff to deliver an exceptional patient experience that contributes to positive health outcomes for patients and a work culture of kindness, inclusion, integrity, accountability, and excellence.
Job Responsibilities:
- Escort patient into exam rooms.
- Take vital signs: temperature, height, weight and blood pressure.
- Assist physicians with patient visit and procedure when needed.
- Perform venipuncture, prepare and label specimens.
- Obtain lab results from Outreach/NYP labs, as well as outside labs.
- Perform EKGs and/or spirometry as requested.
- Maintain and clean exam rooms after each patient visit.
- Perform point of care testing.
- Maintain supplies in physician exam rooms, as well as phlebotomy/lab supplies
- Maintain daily refrigerator/freezer logs, monthly AED log and other QA logs.
- Cross-coverage between medical assistants and front desk staff
- Front desk responsibilities include meet and greet patients/parents, verify/update all patient demographic information. Obtain/verify and scan all patient insurance information/medical documentation. Verify patient's insurance eligibility. Confirm/screen patient appointments. Collect co-pays and patient fees at time of service. Follow CUIMC cash handling protocols. Explain functionality of MyColumbiaDoctors patient portal to all patients and send invitations to portal accordingly.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
- High school graduate or equivalency and graduated from an accredited Medical Assistant program. Associates Degree or additional academic coursework is preferred.
- CMA or equivalency required.
- Current BCLS/AED certification required.
- Basic proficiency in computer skills including, but not limited to, Electronic Health Systems, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Email systems, etc.
- Previous medical assisting experience in an outpatient setting preferred.
- Prior EMR/EPIC experience preferred.
Hourly Rate Range: $20.00 - $29.81
