Job Summary:
The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) will serve as a key member of the patient care team in an ambulatory setting. This position will work closely with providers across multiple specialties as well as with other clinical and administrative staff to deliver an exceptional patient experience that contributes to positive health outcomes for patients and a work culture of kindness, inclusion, integrity, accountability, and excellence.
Job Requirements:
- Greet and interact with patients, visitors, vendors, and faculty/staff and answer telephone calls promptly.
- Prepare patients for their visit, including patient escort and rooming functions (taking vital signs, medication reconciliation, documentation of chief complaint, updating EMR as required, etc.), assisting patients as needed with walking, dressing, collecting and processing specimens and point of care testing, prepping for exam, assisting physicians with exams, procedures and department-specific therapies, performing phlebotomy duties and point-of-care tests, entering orders in EPIC, etc.
- Process, sterilize and organize instruments daily.
- Prepare and maintain medical charts.
- Copying and mailing requests for medical records.
- Perform additional check out functions such as scheduling, referrals, etc.
- Perform additional specialty-specific duties as assigned.
- Other duties as assigned.
Please note: in some practices and based on operational needs, the CMA may be required to perform full scope of front desk duties in conjunction with or in lieu of CMA duties.
Job Qualifications:
- High school graduate or equivalency and graduated from an accredited Medical Assistant program, plus specialized certifications as needed.
- CMA must be certified by a credentialing body.
- Current BCLS/AED certification required.
- Must demonstrate strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Basic proficiency in computer skills including, but not limited to, Electronic Health Systems, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, email systems, etc.
- Will provide coverage as requested throughout practices (multiple sites and flexible schedule).
- Associate Degree or additional academic coursework preferred.
- Previous medical assisting experience in an outpatient setting preferred.
- Proficiency with OSHA standards including disposal of biohazard waste preferred.
- Multi-specialty experience in a high-volume setting is preferred.
- Prior EMR experience, EPIC preferred.
Hourly Rate Range: $20.00 - $31.01
Note: Our salary offers will fall within these ranges based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to experience, skill set, training and education.
