Job description
Here’s what you’ll do:
- Serve as one of the primary voices behind Minnesota United's social media accounts, covering games, community events, and training sessions as assigned.
- Write and post engaging and timely social media copy.
- Be funny (without damaging the brand).
- Come up with ideas for cool stuff we can do on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, Snapchat, Threads and more. Engaging graphics, interesting videos, buzzworthy stunts, unsettling videos of our mascot; you name it.
- Use basic photo and video-editing tools to make timely videos for TikTok and Instagram Reels, as well as good memes. You know the ones.
- Ask players silly questions, record their answers, and post it on TikTok.
- Work the majority of MNUFC's first-team games, both home and away.
- Travel with the team, capturing both behind-the-scenes and in-game content.
- Help us stay on top of, and quickly capitalize on, the latest trends, hashtags, and Twitter alternatives.
- Assist in the planning, execution, and ongoing maintenance of our social media advertising campaigns.
- Sit in a room with a bunch of likeminded coworkers talking about weird stuff we can do on the internet.
- Build professional, respectful relationships with our players and coaches.
- Lurk in the Minnesota United fan Discord server.
- Have run social for a brand or sports organization, ideally for 3-5 years.
- Possess a journalism, communications, or marketing degree.
- Have a proven track record of consistency, creativity, attention to detail, and strong editorial judgement.
- Want to spend a good portion of your waking moments thinking about soccer.
- Genuinely enjoy the social media grind.
- Are really, really good at coming up with cool ideas for social content.
- Could, in a pinch, tweet an entire game using only Taylor Swift lyrics and song titles.
- Have a knack for photography, design, videography or other creative disciplines that might come in handy for a role like this.
- Know when to post through it, and when to log off.
- Speak conversational Spanish.
- Want to take risks and push the limits. We're not the Steak-umm Twitter account, but they're on the mood board.
- Have mentally storyboarded a short horror film based on the Grimace Shake.
