SUMMARY DESCRIPTIONS:
Provides professional technical support for all campus events, meetings, and conferences requiring audio visual technology; assists in coordinating with events managers, venue overseers, students, faculty, and others to plan and deliver audio visual engineering and support for college events, including those held nights and weekends.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Set up and strike AV equipment for events and meetings such as: mixers, speakers, microphones, projectors, displays and cameras, including the safe and orderly handling of cabling for all equipment being used, and that the cabling is hidden from view when possible.
- During large scale or high priority indoor and outdoor events, operate equipment such as: sound boards, lighting panels, video cameras, video switchers and ensure that all AV elements of each event are of excellent quality.
- Assist in diagnosing and problem solving with all AV equipment and other issues under tight time constraints, including during live events.
- Oversee events-related equipment, ensuring that appropriate equipment is operational and configured to optimal specifications.
- Understand the various AV set-ups in multiple spaces including several theatres, outdoor venues, conference spaces and classrooms.
- Adapt to changes in technology and research technical issues and replacement equipment.
- Use the college's event management software and AV calendar to schedule out necessary preparation and set-up for scheduled events.
- Serve on call for last minute events not on the calendar.
- Assist team in consulting routinely and independently with faculty, staff, students, contractors, performance companies, and others regarding events, providing technical advice, helping with planning, and anticipating needs and support levels.
- Assist in leading student workers, interns and tier one teams in basic AV set-up and problem solving. Instruct others in the selection, use and design of AV materials for event support. Provide individual instruction and support for set-ups.
- Assist with the day-to-day support and maintenance of smart classrooms.
- Help ensure compliance with guidelines regarding ADA, copyright, and Fair Use of media at the college.
- Secondary / backup provider of tier one front line technical support for hardware, software, and networking issues related to campus AV systems. Works with IT ticketing system to resolve these issues.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBLITIES:
- Promote a culture of safety and environmental protection by working in a safe manner; immediately reporting unsafe
situations and accidents; following college procedures; and participating in appropriate safety training. - Demonstrate environmental sustainability by using college resources wisely and supporting the colleges sustainability
initiatives and innovation. - Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Some college/Associates degree/Trade School in electronics, multi-media, or audio visual, or equivalent experience plus a minimum of one year of related experience in a technical position performing AV events engineering; knowledge of AV equipment including video and data projectors, sound systems, audio mixers, audio and video signal processors, microphones, speakers, and amplifiers; good judgment, analytical and problem solving skills, and a good understanding of signal flow for both audio and video systems; Note to detail and safety of audience; proficiency with standard computer software programs and the ability to learn new specialized software; ability to operate small hand tools; excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to communicate effectively and develop positive relationships with people from different cultural backgrounds; proficient in spelling, punctuation, grammar, and basic business math; ability to think critically and solve problems; good judgment, and ability to handle confidential/sensitive information with discretion; good organizational and customer service skills; ability to operate standard office equipment.
