As Barclays Media Relations Communications Manager, you will support Barclays UK and Barclays Consumer Banking and Payments division in comprehending the Bank’s Group Strategic objectives and assist in delivering the external communications strategy and plan. You will also responsible to promote, protect and defend the Bank and manage the delivery of external communications activity across a range of topics.

We are currently in the early stages of implementing a hybrid working environment, which means that many colleagues spend part of their working hours at home and part in the office, depending on the nature of the role they are in. What will you be doing?
• Assisting in the creation and promotion of strategic work to influence and build advocacy with press and other external stakeholders critical to the success of the bank
  • Developing insight led campaigns and content to engage stakeholders across a range of channels including traditional and digital media
  • Measuring the effectiveness of communications; recommending and implementing improvements
  • Ensuring key reputational issues impacting Barclays are managed and mitigated in the media
  • Providing assistance to the development of external content for senior
  • Exercising professional judgement, demonstrating ability to make swift decisions to react to media issues and resolve enquiries
  • Seeking coaching and continual feedback to monitor and ensure your own development
  • Ensuring all activity is carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework and internal Barclays Policies and Policy Standards

What we’re looking for:

  • Experience in proactive and reactive media relations gained either in agency or in-house, covering a fast-moving, news environment
  • Background in delivering and executing creative campaigns & press office activity to build advocacy and reputation
  • Network of media contacts across national, broadcast and trade press
  • Experience of handling sensitive issues, such as media complaints

Skills that will help you in the role:
• Crisis management experience
  • Solid knowledge of social media channels
  • Sound industry and business understanding
