Job summary

The Equality Hub Communications Team provides a range of support to the Hub and its Ministers, bringing specialist expertise and direction to all of our policy areas.

The team provides digital, media and communications advice, working with colleagues in the Hub’s policy and strategy functions to ensure that Ministerial priorities are communicated in an effective manner.

The successful candidate will work on both media and social media for the Hub, responding to areas of demand as required

Job description

The successful candidate would be given a variety of exciting roles, from responding to journalists to working with Ministers to create digital content that enhances the government’s equality agenda.

You will be required to plan media moments, using the Government Communications Service’s OASIS framework, making sure that plans turn into successful output both in terms of press interest and digital engagement.

The successful candidate will have a positive attitude, a desire to learn new skills and an ability to manage competing deadlines.

This is a unique role that would suit someone looking to develop their communications skills in a fast paced role at the heart of some of the government’s top priorities. A background in communications is desired, but not necessary, and the successful candidate will receive a comprehensive L&D offer.

Please note - the successful candidate will be expected to participate in the Hub’s out of hour on call service, picking up media enquiries as required

Person specification

Essential:

  • Knowledge of the Government Communications Service’s OASIS system
  • Experience of working in a communications based role
  • Understanding of the UK’s political media landscape
  • Understanding of how to communicate via social media
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at once
  • Ability to deliver at pace

Desirable:

  • Experience of handling media enquiries from journalists
  • Content creation experience
  • Knowledge of the Adobe suite of products
  • Experience of videography
