Job description

Media Manager

Play Cousins Collective, Inc. is a nonprofit agency that utilizes Ancestral Methods of Healing and Resilience and builds upon that knowledge by celebrating and utilizing the critical thinking skills and cultural genius of our collective villages. At Play Cousins Collective we are building villages around our children. We engage our community in four ways (1) Family Engagement (2) Children’s Programming (3) Community Outreach (4) and Resource sharing.

Our mission is achieved via the following principles

Advocacy for children and families

Gentle and Positive Child Rearing and Play

Family and Caregiver Empowerment

At Play Cousins we are building a cohort of parents who are setting playdates, suggesting community conversation themes, and recruiting members. We envision parents sharing their resources, parenting tips and childcare/skilled labor. When dealing with adversity, or simply everyday life, we see parents trading labor in ways that are subversive to our oppression, disenfranchisement and limited resources.

We see parents babysitting in return for the use of a member's washer and dryer, or cooking in exchange for a ride to class. We envision carpools to parent teacher meetings and to the voting polls. By modeling healthy and loving behaviors and by learning more about who we are and who we can be, we are healing generational wounds. The tighter we weave this quilt of interconnectedness the harder it will be to tear us apart, to lose someone, or to feel alone. It takes a village to raise a child and Play Cousins Collective is building that village.
