DCD Rights is an international programme rights distribution company headquartered in Paddington, London.

DCD Rights works with a wide range of third-party producers and talent worldwide: selling exploitation rights for Television, On Demand Services and DVD. Our programming catalogue is a unique portfolio of high-quality drama, entertainment, factual, music and arts programming.

We are now looking for a bright, energetic Law Graduate with a good law degree or GDL combined with the LPC to join the legal team within the Business Affairs department and provide support to the Head of Legal based at our offices in Paddington, London.

The successful applicant will join the legal team, and will be responsible for assisting with a variety of legal tasks, including, but not limited to: Reviewing and revising licence agreements and other legal documents as may be required from time to time, researching specific legal issues as well as programme rights best practices and reporting those findings, and providing legal support to the Business Affairs and Sales teams. The paralegal will also be expected to manage rights databases, maintain internal procedural systems and communications, draft various application forms and complete availability checks for the Sales team, alongside any ad hoc duties that may arise.

Key Tasks

  • Drafting basic licence agreements
  • Liaising with producers for approval of key commercial terms
  • Completing and filing various forms as required
  • Perform other tasks and special projects to assist the Business Affairs team as required

Essential

  • Educated to degree level, 2:1 minimum LLB or commendation GDL combined with the LPC with commendation or higher
  • Existing general office experience
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Able to handle confidential and sensitive information appropriately, professionally and in a discreet manner
  • Interest in Media and Entertainment Law
  • Able to commute to our offices in Paddington on a flexible basis
  • Flexible approach to working hours and location, including but not limited to, for example, meetings and events at other sites

Desirable

  • Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Outlook and Word.

Hours of work:

  • Monday to Friday
  • 9.30am and 6pm (including 1 hour unpaid break)
