Job description

General – To oversee a team of pipefitters,welders, plumbers and subcontractors , supporting them in their work installing, testing & commissioning, maintaining and repairing HVAC systems.

Day-to-day activities

-Timetabling and allocating jobs to operatives through both the use of software and communication with teams. This involves prioritising and co-ordinating jobs, as well as rescheduling tasks in response to deadline changes.

-Keep records of all activities within site diary.

-Supervising and supporting all operatives during the installation. Which will include ‘working on the tools’.

-Review and inspect all work carried out by their team both before and after completion including completing all relevant PICOW documentation, including sub-contractor works.

-Ensure that all work is undertaken according to standards and procedures, and health & safety policies are followed.

-Be self-sufficient and able to independently judge and inspect work carried out by the team, including subcontractors.

-Establish strong working relationships with colleagues and clients.

-Attend regular meetings both with the client and internally within PICOW.

-Attend any training courses as required.

-Be involved in planning and reviewing the budget for projects.

-Produce material take-offs as required.

-Planning, preparing reports, maintaining records, purchasing materials including prioritising materials and deliveries.

-Travel to and from different sites, as and when required.

-Mentor apprentices and other members or your team, including conduct appraisals (minimum of every 6 months).

-Monitor deliveries checking / recording any missing items and then sending copies back into the office.

-Checking operatives time sheets prior to submitting to Project / Contracts Manager for approval.

Health and Safety

-Produce Risk Assessments / Method Statements and issue to the client for review / approval.

-Review and approve any subcontractors RA/MS.

-Deliver weekly toolbox talks to the mechanical team you are managing – including sub-contractors.

-Complete any Monitoring & Supervision documents requested by the Health and Safety manager.

-Promote near miss reporting and give your team targets to achieve per month.

-Make sure your team are completing all pre-use inspection forms (Plant, MEWPS, Ladder, Scaffold, Podiums etc) and issue to the H&S Manager on a weekly basis.

-Complete PICOW general site induction to all new operatives working on the sites you are managing.

-Control all documents within the project’s health and safety file in general.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: £36,000.00-£46,000.00 per year
