Job description
This role will be responsible for the ongoing maintenance of key production machinery. The role will ensure machine downtime is kept to a minimum by responding to machine breakdowns and faults whilst also developing a proactive maintenance strategy to minimise recurrent faults. In addition, this role will be responsible for reconditioning machinery and machine parts, working closely with the Production Controller, to evaluate issues with production and recondition machinery in order to maximise efficiency and output and ensuring machinery is running in compliance with current regulations and legislation.
The Role:
- Key responsibilities will be for the maintenance, servicing and overhauling of manufacturing machinery including mechanical breakdowns, as well as some electrical repairs and installation.
- To work closely with the production operatives, supervisors and management team to supply the agreed level of service.
- Maintenance and repair of machinery, attending breakdowns, keeping quality at a high level.
- Implementation control strategy to evaluate machine faults and development of innovative machine repair strategy to minimise reoccurrence of faults and improve operational efficiency.
- Where efficiencies are identified to reduce recurrent faults, ensuring knowledge is passed on via training to operatives to instil these efficiencies and behaviours within the workforce.
- Design and manufacture of replacement parts for specialised machinery, utilising and reconditioning existing machine parts where possible
- Research and evaluation of production issues and recommendations of solutions to these production issues in order to maximise efficiency.
- Provide technical knowledge on specialist key machinery.
- Assist in the management of Health and Safety, Environmental and Company policies in compliance with current regulations and legislation.
- Be required to keep accurate records such as work activities, tasks carried out, parts used through stores, etc. (experience of working under PUWER regulations)
- Work closely with other departments to find ways to increase machine reliability on existing and new equipment, diagnose equipment breakdowns and action repairs ensuring direction of labour and planned engineering activities fully support the operation.
- Attend meetings as required, analyse data and find solutions to improve equipment performance whilst ensuring safe working practice and full communications are maintained at all times.
The Person:
- Evidence of a Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent qualification, or demonstrable relevant equivalent experience.
- Mechanically biased but with some electrical knowledge.
- Very good time-management skills and a high work ethic.
- Experience of working with paper bag manufacturing machinery is essential.
- Experience of working with aged machinery will be advantageous.
- Experience of the following machines: Garant Maschinen, Holweg Webber, Beasley French
- Knowledge of Siemens PLC would be advantageous
- Experience of Lathe and Gear cutting machines would be desirable

Salary: £40,000.00-£45,000.00 per year
