Water Recycling is at the heart of our operations. The key services that we are responsible for are delivered by our in-house, highly skilled workforce. We collect and treat the water that customers have used, returning it to the environment via rivers and coastal outlets. Our network includes 76,000 kilometres of sewers which feed over 1,000 water recycling centres. What will you be doing?
As a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, you will be helping with the smooth running of the day-to-day operations of our Water Recycling sites across Basildon and surrounding areas. You will carry out general repairs and investigate, diagnose and rectify faults with support from your wider team.
Key duties will include:
Carrying out reactive work
Investigating and repairing faults
Safe operation and maintenance of all assets in line with Health and Safety policies and procedures
Completing job sheets to a required standard
Reporting back on asset condition
Ensuring the availability of plant and equipment
Organising contractors employed where required
Procuring best value goods and services when required
Ensuring all procurement procedures are adhered to including SAP and records maintained
What does it take to be a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer?
Possess either an industrial electrical or mechanical apprenticeship
NVQ level 2 or 3 or equivalent (electrical or engineering maintenance) as well as one of the below:
ONC/OND in electrical engineering
BTEC/BEC /TEC/ national certificate/ diploma in an electrical subject
City and Guilds Parts 1 &2 in electrical engineering or equivalent
Proven mechanical experience in an industrial or commercial environment, along with a good working knowledge of industrial mechanical control systems, telemetry systems, pumps, gearboxes, general mechanical plant and equipment.
Strong awareness of health and safety
DSEAR COMPEX trained is desirable
Flexible and resilient approach to work- hours, training and adapting to the business needs when necessary
Advocate of collaboration, someone who enjoys working as part of a team
Full driving license
