Teaming up with the University of Hertfordshire, you'll even earn your bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering (BEng). Embrace a flexible learning approach, attending university on day releases complemented by immersive block-release weeks at the start and end of each term.

As a degree Apprentice with John Crane you will learn about the design, engineering, manufacture, assembly and testing of John Crane products. This will involve the use of 3D CAD to design components, using analytical tools such as FEA and CFD, collaborating with other departments on projects ranging from manufacturing, commercial and the operation/design of test rigs just to name a few.

What You'll Have:

  • Essential: GCSE/Level 2 Maths and English at Grade C/Level 4 or above
  • Essential: BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Engineering at DMM to include Distinction in Further Maths unit
  • OR A Levels with 112 UCAS points in Maths and either Physics or Technology or Engineering based subjects, excluding General Studies/Critical Thinking
  • You will need to demonstrate an enthusiasm for engineering from the beginning of the process
  • Strong interest in engineering and innovation
  • Excellent mathematical skills
  • Desire to learn to read and understand technical drawings and schematics
  • Good communication skills

The timeline for your Journey:

We are inviting applications for our Mechanical Engineering Degree Apprenticeship programme, which will start in August 2024.

If your application is successful at the first stage, you will be invited to a brief introductory call with one of our Engineers. This will be an opportunity for us to learn some more about you, and likewise for you to ask any questions you may have about the apprenticeship.

We aim to conclude the interview process by December 2023
