As Mechanical Engineer you will work as part of a converting asset team, applying
standards for safe engineering practices for the Mechanical discipline. You will support and drive the failure analysis processes and ensure that all engineering activities are carried out in line with the standards and strategy for the Works Area (e.g. management of spares, management of contractors, budget management, engineering standards & procedures.
Main responsibilities
- You will ensure the practical application of best maintenance practice in the asset area.
- Develop preventative and predictive maintenance programs to support the asset operating commitments.
- Drive equipment and process performance standards to maintain the asset required performance level.
- Provide clear communication within the asset team, on all mechanical related issues.
- Provide support in the development of reliability skills in the operating teams.
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal and leadership skills.

Working at Barrow Mill:
When joining Kimberly Clark Engineering team you will be part of a day team that works closely together. You will have exposure to different aspects of paper making and converting which will show the production of the premium products. This position is an exciting opportunity for you to build on your technical ability.
Our manufacturing facility at Barrow-in-Furness is responsible for the production of tissue products, including Andrex and Kleenex.
About You
The successful candidate will have previous experience in mechanical engineering work.
You are educated to Degree level qualified to HNC level or equivalent in a relevant discipline.
experience of working within the paper, FMCG or chemical industries (or other regulated industries) – then great! If not, here’s where you will be able to gain a wealth of experience in our industry.
We work in a culture of continuous improvement so having experience of continues improvement be needed.
We work in a culture of coaching and your leadership and development skills will be key in delivering improvement.
You’ll also be able to demonstrable your Mechaical Eng. experience in an ever-changing technical environment.
Experience in progressive manufacturing cultures using TPM, RCM or other progressive best practices is also desirable.
You have Knowledge of TPM/ RCM /RCA and CBM.
Legislative Ownership (PUWER, LOLER) within your area of ownership. • and understanding of contractor governance.
You are able to manage small to large improvement CAPEX projects and to develop RA/SWP’s and manage system.
