This Cambridgeshire based company are doing something incredible. We visited their site recently, were treated to lunch and a tour of their unique and charming facilities.
Their target is to build a clean, sustainable global 21st Century Energy System based on a new generation of high energy density Supercapacitors. Since 2013, they have been operating 'under the radar', but are now pushing the 'go' button and have huge plans for the future and funding to support this.
Based in the South Cambridgeshire biotech cluster, the team (of 26) work within this delightful setting of stunning parkland surroundings and their neighbours are similar start-ups! They are looking for an experienced, Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the design and development of prototypes, test rigs and tooling, support verification and validation and implement testing.
Working closely alongside a talented team of scientists in the impressive pilot manufacturing facility, you will also help out with the production of demo systems and develop the current technology so it can be used in a variety of commercial applications and products.
As this is a lead role within a start-up, you will get involved with a range of wider projects and really be able to make a difference to the future of this wonderful organisation!
What do you need to apply?
- Engineering Degree and a strong mechanical engineering background
- 5+ years' experience in a relevant post grad R&D or engineering environment, ideally in a couple of different roles
- Excellent CAD skills
- Sound knowledge of materials, metals, plastics and associated manufacturing techniques
- Experience in the design of prototypes with small components and complex assemblies
- Ability to use simulation techniques
- Creative and practical mindset and keen to support and oversee technicians
- Appetite to lead and deliver within a small R&D environment
- Happy to work on-site, Monday to Friday
What experience/knowledge would give you the edge?
- Batteries, supercapacitors, fuel cells, electrolysers or other energy storage and conversion technologies
- Work in an R&D environment
