General Purpose:
Responsible for technology development and waterjet applications projects in support of product & business development. Work includes design, fabrication, modification, and evaluation of electro-mechanical & fluids apparatus, components or circuitry for use in electronic equipment and devices. Investigate & validate of new waterjet applications utilizing existing or novel equipment. Analyze equipment to establish operating data, conduct experimental tests and report on the results. Work independently on tasks with minimum supervision.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Works with designers, product managers, business development and engineers to develop functional design that meets market specifications. Review and evaluate customer & market requirements.
- Designs testing of fluid & electro-mechanical systems.
- Works on and facilitates cross functional teams to develop solutions for market opportunities. Evaluates concepts for compliance with VoC/VoM and for cost effectiveness and safety.
- Completes administrative duties necessary to launch the designs for fabrication, machining and assembly.
- Performs any necessary technical calculations to assure a functional and sound system.
- Interfaces with vendors for procurement of components.
- Assist in preparing testing specifications and documentation for downstream users.
- Travel to customer sites, trade shows, conferences to gather technical data and assist with Business Development
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of mechanical engineering principles including robots, controls, fluids, solid modeling design software.
- Familiarity with FEA & CFD analytical methods
- Knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics.
- Fundamental understanding of basic Material Science principles
- Ability to perform technical calculations for design of mechanical & fluid systems.
- High level of analytical ability where problems are complex.
- Exceptional oral and written, presentation and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently on projects in addition to functioning well in a team environment.
- High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others, solicit input from customers, motivate associates, and elicit work output.
- Ability to take initiative; highly self-motivated.
- Demonstrated ability for innovative/creative thinking.
- Familiarity with the design & operation of waterjet products
- Ability to travel on short notice.
Education/Experience and/or Training:
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) and three (3) years related experience.
- Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering (MSME) and 0-2 years related experience.
