Job Description
The Bay 8 Value Stream’s Team Lead is responsible for the day-to-day management, coaching and development of a functional work group comprising of up to 12 members. This is a pivotal role in the organisation and is fundamental to the ongoing development of a team working culture and deployment of CPS to ensure that business targets and objectives are achieved in the areas of safety, quality, velocity, and cost reduction.
Job Duties/Responsibilities of a successful Team Leader:
- Make sure that all pro-active actions are taken so that no injuries or accidents can happen. They are a role model for the Golden Rules and should communicate that nothing is more important than safety.
- Responsible for ensuring all processes are followed to standard work adherence and comply with company quality standards and for leading continuous improvement activities.
- Be visible and accessible to their team members and to lead by example including the Caterpillar Code of Conduct and the Golden Rules. They need to demonstrate good people management skills and will be given training and coaching to improve these as required.
- Create a communication environment that encourages high quality, proactive and open discussion through personal dialogues and team briefings.
- Responsible for effective control of resources within the support group in line with company budgets.
Skills, experience & qualifications you must have:
- Internal candidates must have satisfactorily completed a minimum of one years’ service in their current position to apply for another role, or have obtained, in writing, authorisation from their manager to waive this requirement.
- Internal candidates should always inform their manager prior to applying for any new role

Skills, experience & qualifications you may have:
- Assembly Experience
- Knowledge and/or experience of Lean 6 Sigma tools and techniques
- NEBOSH/IOSH qualification and/or can demonstrate a positive attitude towards safety
