POSITION DESCRIPTION
Do you have an interest all things electrical or mechanical? Perhaps you’ve worked in environments where you’ve been exposed to the electrical or mechanical side of things, but have not had the opportunity to begin a qualification? Or maybe you’re a college leaver, looking for your start in the industry?
We’re looking to hire 2 apprentices, to be biased towards Electrical or Mechanical.
You’ll be working for British Gypsum, based in our East Leake Works.
British Gypsum is one of more than 30 exciting Saint-Gobain brands in the UK and the is the UK’s leading manufacturer of interior lining systems.
What will I be doing in the role?
To begin with, you will assist the Electrical/ Mechanical teams with their day-to-day tasks.
Some of the duties you will have the chance to assist, learn and get involved in, include;
- To work within the teams around the different departments of the site. Specialising in learning the trade skills of mechanical / electrical craftsmanship,
- Develop an understanding in how the process equipment works and applying what you learn to develop our maintenance strategies.
- Servicing and repairs of mobile equipment and production machinery
- Assist and help carry out the installation of a variety of services/schemes
- Helping to carry out planned and reactive maintenance
Is this role right for me?
We’re not looking for any specific background, however an electrical or mechanical interest would benefit, along with the openness to working in a fast paced manufacturing environment.
If you’ve had some form of training previously or are currently undertaking a college course, that would be useful, but not a must have.
