Jonathan Lee Recruitment is helping a world leader in the design, manufacture and installation of a specialised product, find a full-time Mechanical Design Engineer to join their Design team in Woodgate, Birmingham. The role comes with a salary from £32,000 - £38,000 p/a and excellent benefits.

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will design and develop automation products and ancillary’s, introducing best practice design to provide solutions with high quality at optimal cost and within the time frame provided. You will directly interface with and support other departments.

In your first few weeks in this Mechanical Design Engineer role, you can expect to:

  • Demonstrate good standards of mechanical engineering using 3D CAD design software (SolidWorks / Inventor preferred), ensure best design practices and contribute to a continual improvement program
  • Consistently produce high-quality drawings for suppliers to manufacture parts
  • Take responsibility for equipment and machine designs, BOMs, development work, enquiries and value engineering activities on time and to the correct specification, hygiene and quality standards
  • Ensure full compliance with all the relevant regulations, legal requirements, and customers specific Code of Practice, including UK Health and Safety Regulations, EC Directives, etc

To apply for this Mechanical Design Engineer role, you will need a mechanical engineering qualification and/or previous proven experience in a similar role. You'll also require:

  • Good knowledge of any of the following; materials handling, sheet metal, special purpose machinery design
  • Excellent communication skills and a flexible, proactive and methodical approach to tasks
